Shepparton Harness Racing Club will be covered in pink today as Victoria's brilliant harness racing industry bands together in support of the McGrath Foundation.

The 2025 Pacing for Pink campaign is in full swing, with 80 drivers wearing sponsored pink pants to help raise awareness and vital funds for breast cancer support.

Shepparton leads the charge with its major fundraising meeting every year, a day known for its fantastic pink atmosphere, incredible raffle prizes and great racing.

This family-friendly afternoon also offers free activities for children, including face painting, a jumping castle and Murray Mermaids Hair Braiding.

Children will also shine on the track with a focus on the pony trots. Keep an eye out for the dazzling ponies and their drivers as they compete for race honours and the Water Partners Best Presented award.

The Olive Hayes Memorial Mares Pace for female drivers is a major highlight of the nine-race card at 2.59pm, while the pony trot senior drivers' race is sure to entertain.

Chiltern-based duo, Overtime, is booked to play music throughout the afternoon, while a silent auction and major raffle are other off-track drawcards.

In 2024, the Shepparton Harness Racing Club’s Pacing For Pink meeting raised a stunning $41,353.55 for the McGrath Foundation, and event organiser Marg Watson said everything was in readiness for another huge day.

“Pacing for Pink’s special event is shaping up to be a huge day, one no doubt with many mixed emotions,” Marg said.

“We’re very excited about the wonderful and generous support that’s come through to help make the day an outstanding success for both the Shepparton Harness Racing Club and the McGrath Foundation. Many quality and varied items have been generously donated for the silent auction, as well as the major raffle.”

“We’re honoured to have the HRV Chairman, Bernard Saundry, join us and lead the tribute for Greg Sugars, a friend to so many and someone who was highly respected by the industry worldwide, followed by a minute’s silence.”
